Throughout the month of February, our students and staff celebrate I Love to Read in some way every day. The tournament of books contenders are decided prior to the start of the month to ensure that both brackets are filled – and there is a vote held everyday. École Stonewall Centennial School held its first Celebration of Learning on February 22nd. It was a huge success with over 250 students attending with their families. Students had a chance to take their families on a tour of our school. They participated in a variety of educational activities throughout the school including their classrooms, the gym, the music room, and the Home ec room. At Brant-Argyle, our North room (grades 6/7/8) is combining Literacy and Numeracy goals through project-based learning. These goals include promoting engagement in writing, improving writing skills, building communication skills and connecting our numeracy learning with real world scenarios. As part of work being done on Well-Being at Balmoral School, the grade 5/6 class had a sleep presentation by 91Ƶ’s School Psychologist and Mental Health Clinician. The presentation talked about effective sleep hygiene habits and how sleep can impact a person’s well-being. This presentation came about after a Mental Health screening tool was used with students. Throughout April and May, TCI has been presenting the “Rob Nash: A Living Curriculum” project to our Grade 8, 9 and 10 students. This program aligns with one of our school goals and the Division’s Continuous Improvement Plan, promoting a positive Well-Being.
